Here are your ingredients:

  • 1 cup of red wine
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 31/2 tablespoons of plain gelatin
  • 2 inch piece orange peel
  • a pinch of cinnamon

For the equipment:

  • A pot
  • A 9x9 inch pan
  • A butter knife
  • A cookie cutter

ingredients in the pot

The Directions

Put the the orange peel and wine in the pot and let it macerate for 15 minutes to an hour.  Put on the stove and add the sugar and the cinnamon.  I use the Korintje cinnamon as it is considered the sweetest.  Cinnabon uses it (or so I am told).

Turn the heat on low and still gently until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and remove the orange peel, then add the gelatin.  Stir the mixture until the gelatin dissolves. Then pour into the pan and put it into the fridge.  Walt. Until. Chilled.

After the mixture has cooled and solidified, run a butter knife around the inside edge of the pan.  The gelatin mixture should pull away from the side.  Pull the slab of gelatin out of the pan and place on a plate.  Cut the individual jellies out using the cookie cutter.
