/Wine has a long established history of being our drink of choice for celebrating, entertaining, and savoring life; but it didn't start out that way. - Anaheim, California was founded in 1857 by 50 German-Americans who had formed the Anaheim Vineyard Company.
- Bonfort’s Wine and Spirits Circular indicates that the cargo ship Emilie left the port of Lisbon bound for NYC with a cargo of wine in 1887.
- California's San Benito AVA was designated in 1987.
