Wine has a long established history of being our drink of choice for celebrating, entertaining, and savoring life; but it didn't start out that way.   • Baron Bettino Ricasoli, the Father of Chianti Classico, was born in 1809.
  • The Pennsylvania Supreme Court Ruledin 1813 that the Philadelphia Sheriff Barker was not entitled to break into Plaintiff Lyle’s house and seize 29 pipes of Madeira to pay an undetermined debt to Robert Morris.
  • Oregon's Umpqua Valley AVA was designated in 1984.
