Packed with intensity, Anthem's first vintage from this famous Beckstoffer vineyards in St. Helena could not be a stronger introduction. On the nose, the 2010 Las Piedras is all dark fruits with loads of blackberries, black cherries and lingering hint of espresso bean. The palate is plush and full weight with more dark fruit, espresso bean, dark chocolate, mint, and a touch of sweet oak, as well as incredible length and complexity. Although very enjoyable now, this Cabernet will peak in 5-10 years and will continue to age and evolve well beyond that.

2010 Genetic Pinot Noir - Wine of the Day

2010 Genetic Pinot Noir

2010 Genetic Pinot Noir

$100 for 2 bottles

The 2011 Genetic Pinot Noir is a special Oregon Pinot Noir from Sabina Vineyards. This wine has a nose that is reminiscent of freshly crushed cranberries, cherries and fresh herbs. Brilliant acidity cleanses the palate following the richest of gravies while marrying the flavors picked up on the nose to create the ultimate experience producing a spectacular pinot noir for Sabina Vineyards.

The grapes for this wine come from the Roserock Vineyard which is perched on a ridge top towards the southern end of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, which is located within the Willamette Valley, home to many of Oregon’s finest Pinot Noir vineyards. In 2011, a warm and dry harvest period gave way to cooler than expected conditions in late September and early October. Fortunately, the fruit was at or near its ripening plateau. A final heat spike at harvest dehydrated many clusters, reducing yields and concentrating flavors.

The Genetic wines are an homage to the LGBTQ community and perfect for celebrating Pride Month!  We are offering these wines in pairs for $100.

2010 Calstar Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay - Wine of the Day

 2010 Calstar Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay

$35

Straw colored, with aromas of baked apple, Meyer lemon and buttered pastries.  A great balance between bright, ripe apple and pear and toasted wheat.  Opulent and round on the palate, yeasty richness is followed up by baked pear, lemon curd and sweet oak.  The finish is carried through by honeyed fruits – apple, quince and pears- with a subtle spice of vanilla and clove.  Nuanced and luxurious.

The Sonoma Coast is a renowned growing region known for its cool microclimates that contribute to slow grape maturation and optimum ripeness.  The well respected and highly sought after Sangiacomo Vineyard produces a rich, palette-driven Chardonnay with great texture and nuance.

The Roberts Road Vineyard, located at the northern end of the Petaluma Gap with cobbled alluvial soil and bench deposits, has proven itself to be the ideal location influenced by morning fog, warm days and strong afternoon winds leaving the grapes plenty of hang time and development of distinct flavors.

This bottling is dedicated to winemaker, Rick Davis' mother Ann Davis, who passed away in February 2012 from complications with Alzheimer’s.

Golden straw in color with aromas of rich ripe Gravenstien apple and Bosc pear with notes of lemon cream, soft vanilla and toasted shortbread.  On the palette, the juicy acidity carries notes of green apple peel, lemon blossom and wet rock.  Very focused minerality and bright citrus notes balance the barrel richness and spice.

2010 Petrified Forest Cabernet Sauvignon - Wine of the Day

2010 Petrified Forest Cabernet Sauvignon

$48

"Dark red magenta in the glass, it's dark and yet bright.  The purity on the nose is impressive, with ripeness perfected and the oak balanced.  There's a sweet core of fruit on the palate, chock full of dark red cherries, cassis, wet tobacco and sweet earth.  60+second finish that has nice tannic grip without being 'drying'.  Impressively rich in all the right places, the wine continues to evolve with air, telling me that a two-hour decant is probably wise.  Drink now and for 7-8 more years for optimum drinking."  Chris at Calwine.  (Dec.2014)

"Don't fear the herbs.  This savory wine has a beautiful green olive and fresh herb character in small amounts, adding great complexity."  Sunset magazine, October 2015 issue.

2010 Anthem Mt. Veeder Estate Merlot

2010 Anthem Mt. Veeder Estate Merlot

$99

Anthem's inaugural vintage of Merlot is a Cab-lover's Merlot, and is an incredibly deep, intense wine. The 2010 Merlot's aromatics are dominated by plumbs, black berries, charcoal and dark chocolate. On the palate, there are red fruits (raspberries, red cherries) as well as melted fudge, roasted meats and licorice that tail off into a smooth and amazingly long finish. Although it is hard to imagine a better Merlot, this wine will age and improve beautifully for at least another 5-7 years and pairs well with any pasta or meat dish. Grown on Mount Veeder. Drink now through 2019.
